Energy monitoring devices

There are many different sorts of energy monitoring devices on the market today. They come in a wide variety of shapes with different interactions and aesthetics. These are a few that I found...

The FlowerPod
This is a rather cute concept which clips on to the houses main energy source and has a visual aid of the flower that conveys the level of energy usage. This then links to a website that has ways to help you save on power.

The Kill-a-watt
This is one of the more affordable power devices and a simpler design as opposed to the other examples. The Kill a Watt is designed to plug directly into an outlet, then the device you want to monitor plugs into the Kill a Watt. You can calculate your electrical expenses by the day, week, month, even an entire year, along with other data that can be monitored.

Wattson
This uses mood lighting along with numbers to give you a household energy reading at any time it is also  a more aesthetically pleasing device than some of the others. The lighting enables the user to quickly see whether their usage is good or bad as opposed to reading graphs and interpreting numbers.

The Wilting Flower
This is a fake flower that wilts according to the amount of power usage. It is similar to the first design however its a 3d object. The leds change colour as the flower wilts and indicates the users power usage by how healthy the flower looks.
